Casa Frondosa

Setting up the house email

Cómo configurar el correo de la casa

A one-time setup so guest inquiries reach you wherever you already read your mail.

The address hola@casafrondosa.com

The password comes to you separately, in a different message. Keep it somewhere safe rather than in a shared note.

  1. Sign in on the web first

Do this before anything else. Outlook and Gmail will refuse to connect until the account has been opened once through the website.

Go to mail.zoho.com and sign in as hola@casafrondosa.com. You only need to do this once, and you can close it again straight away.

  2. Add the account to your email app

Use the section for the app you use. Both need the same settings:

    Incoming (IMAP)
    imappro.zoho.com
    Port
    993 · SSL
    Outgoing (SMTP)
    smtppro.zoho.com
    Port
    465 · SSL
    User name
    hola@casafrondosa.com

Two details people get wrong: the servers are imappro and smtppro, not imap and smtp. And the user name is the full email address, not the words Casa Frondosa.

    Outlook

For Maribel and anyone else on Outlook.

    Outlook on Windows, classic version

    1. File, then Add Account, then type hola@casafrondosa.com.
    2. Open Advanced options, tick Let me set up my account manually, and choose IMAP.
    3. Enter the settings above, then the password.

New Outlook on Windows, or Outlook on a Mac

    1. Windows: the gear, then Accounts, then Add account. Mac: the Outlook menu, Settings, Accounts, then the + button.
    2. Type hola@casafrondosa.com. If it suggests the wrong provider, choose IMAP instead.
    3. Enter the settings above, then the password.

    Gmail

For Eddie. Gmail on a computer no longer pulls in mail from other accounts (Google switched that off in 2026), so it works in two parts.

Part 1: Michael forwards hola@ to your Gmail

Michael sets Zoho to send a copy of every hola@ message to your Gmail address and keep the original, so Outlook users still see everything. Gmail will receive a confirmation code from Zoho once. Send it to Michael and he finishes the setup.

Part 2: reply as hola@ from Gmail

    1. On a computer: the gear, See all settings, then the Accounts and Import tab.
    2. Under Send mail as, click Add another email address. Name: Casa Frondosa. Email: hola@casafrondosa.com. Untick Treat as an alias.
    3. For the server, use smtppro.zoho.com, port 465, SSL, user name hola@casafrondosa.com, and the password.
    4. Gmail sends a confirmation email to hola@. It arrives in your Gmail through the forwarding from part 1. Click the link in it.
    5. Back in Accounts and Import, set When replying to a message to Reply from the same address the message was sent to.

From then on, when you reply to a guest, Gmail sends it from hola@casafrondosa.com through Zoho, and the guest never sees your personal address.

  3. Add your signature

Each of you gets your own signature page with a copy button and instructions for your app. Michael sends you the link.

    Eddie's signature

Set the signature for new messages and for replies. Outlook only adds it to new messages unless you tell it otherwise, and almost everything you send will be a reply.

  4. Always reply, never start a new message

When you answer a guest, use Reply on their message rather than writing a fresh one. A reply inside the same conversation is far less likely to land in their spam folder, which is the main way inquiries get lost.

If something will not connect

It says it cannot verify the account name or password

Nearly always one of three things. You have not signed in on the web yet, which is step one. The servers say imap and smtp instead of imappro and smtppro. Or the user name field says Casa Frondosa instead of the full address.

The password is definitely right but it still will not accept it

Check whether two-step verification is switched on for the account. If it is, the normal password will never work in Outlook or Gmail, and you need an app password instead: sign in at mail.zoho.com, open My Account, then Security, then App Passwords, and generate one. Use it in place of the normal password.

Gmail never received the confirmation email

The forwarding from part 1 is not switched on yet, or the Zoho code has not been confirmed. Message Michael and he will check it. Also look in Gmail's Spam folder.

I would rather just use my phone

Install the Zoho Mail app and sign in with the same address and password. No settings to enter, and step one still applies.

Anything that will not behave, send Michael a message rather than spending an afternoon on it.
